A safer alternative
A lot of people assume that the safest way to tie their horse is by using devices like bungee cords, inner tubes, safety snaps or quick release knots. And until recently, those have been the safest methods available. Now, the Blocker Tie Ring offers an even safer alternative for both you and your horse.

Releases pressure on the horse
When we train horses, we teach them to give to pressure. Unlike the Blocker Tie Ring, an inner tube or bungee cord increases pressure on the horse as it pulls back. Even if the horse stops pulling, the pressure from the bungee cord remains. What is this teaching your horse? (I'm not sure!) For example, should your horse panic, fall down in a trailer or get in trouble while tied with a bungee cord, quick release knot or some other safety device, you have to manually release it. There are three things you need to consider when tying your horse:

When a horse realizes he is tied solid and feels trapped, he panics. His fight-or-flight instinct kicks in and he tries to get away by pulling back so hard, that often, the snap on the lead rope will break. The sudden release of pressure that results after the tack breaks can cause the horse to jerk back or flip over on its back, often causing trauma to the poll, neck, withers, and hamstrings. Often, a horse may never recover from these injuries and/or suffers physical or psychological problems for the rest of its life or worse.
